Like a lot of little girls, I use to dream about my future wedding. One thing that I always knew I wanted was to register for Fiestaware. As a pre-teen, I was obsessed with the retro 50s style of it all and I adored all the bring colors. I live for happy colors and I am fairly non-linear in all I do so the mix and match style of the dishes appealed to me. Fast forward a lot of years and I am an adult registering for my wedding and loading that sucker down with Fiesta place settings and accessories. It was then that my true obsession began.
As an adult, how often have you bought some kind of kitchen item, brought it home, gone to use it and discovered some super annoying restriction on the use that just makes you angry. For example, why are almost all travel coffee mugs not dishwasher safe? Why can that glass pan go in the oven but not in the freezer? This rapidly became an adult pet peeve of mine. I hated buying something expensive and realizing it was annoying to use or worse buying something and then accidentally destroying it in the dishwasher, oven, or freezer. I cannot over estimate how annoying I find this.
Guess what? Fiesta has none of those issues. You can microwave it, put it in the dishwasher, put it in the oven (and not just casseroles like any piece can go in the oven), and you can freeze it. If you want to do it you can. I swear I heard angels sign the “Halleluiah Chorus” the day I realized this.
Oh Fiesta, I thought I loved you then – then I had kids. Kids just destroy things. Sometimes I don’t even understand how they destroy what they do but they just leave a wave of destruction in their wake. But guess what you can NOT destroy. Fiesta – like seriously you can’t break it.
How unbreakable is it you ask? A few nights ago one of our upper kitchen cabinets fell off the wall (yes like off the entire wall onto the floor) and that cabinet contained coffee mugs and wine glasses. It was in surveying the damage that I realized that you really can’t break Fiesta. A few mugs survived, almost half of those were Fiesta. Of the Fiesta mugs that did not survive, most lost a handle or crack in half they did not shatter into a million pieces like a lot of the mugs.
Finally, have I mentioned that Fiesta is all made in America?!?! To recap – Fiesta dishes are dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer save, virtually unbreakable and made in America by American workers. Is it any wonder that I am obsessed with these dishes?
Like most moms, I have found certain products, items or services that I have now become obsessed with. These are things that I honestly can’t imagine my life without and I find improve my life in some way. Things I am obsessed with is a series of posts on just those products/services. I am not paid by any of these brands. These are actual things I have a freakish affinity for and why I think they make my life better and easier. I am just sharing in blog form rather than the Facebook status I use to use to rave about my favorite things. Some of the links may be affiliate links but all items are ones I actually own.
